Just the thought of saying this out loud is terrifying because what people (women) automatically assume is 'I can't believe you want to be away from your children everyday. You must not have really wanted them in the first place.' Not the case. Not what so ever. But I am not here to justify why I do what I do. It has been an agonizing last 7 years questioning myself as to whether or not I have made the right decision to go back to work after having children. Could I have both a career and be a great mom who raises well-adjusted, happy children who grow up to be successful, happy adults? I think yes.Â It is a crazy life trying to manage everything:Â children, work, house, spouse, family, friends, activities, etc. We do our best to get through each day and find the joy in it. Most of us share those special moments on social media as a testament, and if you are like me, to say 'look, mom, I promise we are not working too hard!'Â Whether you are a mom who stays home or one who shuffles her kids to child care everyday, we all need to find the harmony in our lives. I go to work everyday apprehensive aboutÂ being away from my childrenÂ but knowing I will enjoy the challenge of my work. I realize now, that either choice is a sacrifice for me. If I had chosen to be a stay at home mom, I would have missed the internal reward a hard-earned technical job provides. But as a working mom, I have to make sure that every moment with my children counts and it makes them that more precious for me. This was my choice and this is how I have found my balance.Â What's your story?
